Health Commissioner Advocates For Strengthened Data Management,SOP, Licensing In CRS Health System.

The Health Record Officers Registration Board of Nigeria led by Alhaji Baba Gana Mustapha on Wednesday 1st November in solidarity visited the Honourable Commissioner For Health Cross River State,Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk PhD in his office in Calabar.

Addressing the Commissioner, Alhaji Mustapha mentioned that the visit was a familiarition visit to the Commissioner and the ministry in Cross River State.

” I thank you for the good job you have been doing since your emergence as Commissioner,I have been hearing good report of your activities from individuals and the press and I congratulate you for that. We will continue to ensure our best in the Health sector and our board, so we humbly seek your support on a positive enabling environment, employment and promotion of our members in your state.” He said.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Health Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk PhD warmly welcomed the registrar and his team for their delibrate effort to visit the Cross River State Ministry of Health. He however expressed concerns on the quality of services rendered by professionals in the health sector especially as it concerns safer Data management measures,licensing and the use of Stand Operational Procedures (S.O.P)

“There is no way we can operate without data. Data management is expected to attract at least 5% of annual health budget. So we expect enhanced data management so the Registrar of this Board has a lot on his hands to ensure we have data that can improve our health sector performance.
We hope a lot to be done to increase the budget line for the improvement of data in the state system so regardless we have put in place a better Budget for 2024 in state.” Dr Ayuk expressed. The Commissioner requested the Board to ensure its members were licenced and SOPs developed to prevent quackery and improve service quality.

Reacting Futher, Alhaji Mustaper mentioned that there is an already established committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring improved data management system in the sector. He told the Commissioner that, the building of a software to be accessed by all Students of Information Technology and Electronic Data is in progress.

The meeting was concluded with a gift of Appreciation and Honour presented by the Board to the Honourable Commissioner
