APC CRS Holds interactive session in Etung LGA, Slams factional PDP Presidential Candidate, Strengthens internal structure.

The All PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) in cross River State has expressed confidence in the party structure of Etung Local Government Area to deliver all its Party candidates in fourth coming General Elections despite having a factional presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), Senator Professor Sandy Onor from the same Local Government Area.

Addressing stakeholders and party faithfuls during an interactive session early hours of Friday,14th August 2026 at the council headquarters at Effraya,The Executive Chairman of Etung Local Government Area Hon Henry Njar Anom stated that, The All PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) will comfortably win nine Wards in the local Government Area leaving only Onor’s ward to be divided by thirty percent.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders of Etung Local Government Area, Ntufam Hon Gabriel Odu Oji recounted the many progressive achievements of the Governor Otu’s led Administration while tasking the government to rise to challenge in fixing the Etung roads network challenges to be used as a verifiable toll for the forthcoming campaigns in the Local Government Area stressing the huge value input of the local Government Area to state especially in the Cocoa and Agricultural sector.

” Let me Thank His Excellency our Governor for fighting hard even From a disadvantage stand point to return our oil heritage to the state. As Etung people we will support his return as Governor 100% by 2027.

However, we lack campaign tools and we Humbly Appeal to the state chairman of our party to relate to the Governor to please attend two basic needs of our local Government before campaigns start.

The okuni okortoba road leading to where our current executive chairman comes from is simply not motorable yet that Area is the hub of timber in state and the ikom Agbokim road leading to the Agbokim waterfall attraction amongst other Etung road especially areas where the four cocoa estate is located should be adequate fixed” he said.

Also speaking for the woman, Youths and persons living with disability,Hon Mary Eba,Comr Victor Mbe,Comr Agbor Joseph at various instances stressed on the need for youths, women and people living with special needs inclusion in Empowerment schemes and Governance process to better enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Speaking earlier on, The state party secretary Hon pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon had explained that the people’s first mantra of Governor Bassey Edet Otu has torched every Area in the state. He encouraged especially the women to remain true to the party during voting and to have confidence in expressing themselves at all times.

Recall, That the Commissioner for Education Sen (prof) Stephen Odey, the commissioner for Health Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk, the commissioner for Youths development and skills acquisition Barr Ijom Ukam,The commissioner for power and renewable energy Hon Eka Williams and the commissioner for Aviation Capt. Eno amongst other personalities have been nominated some days back to receive this Honour in various categories.

Speaking at the event shortly after receiving the Award, commissioner Ayuk took time to mention key health reforms going on the state and attributed the successe(s) to Gov’t Otu deliberate effort in positioning Cross River State and particularly the health sector with global standards even before completing his second tenure.

In his response, The Honourable commissioner for Youths development and skills acquisition Barr Ijom Ukam dedicated the Award to His Excellency the Governor for giving him The platform to serve.

“Let me thank the organizers of this very unique occasion for a job well done. To the glory of God, this Award would not have been made possible if his Excellency had not appointed me to Head the Youths sector in the state and so, I dedicate this Honour to him and the Youths of cross River State for giving me the enabling grounds to achieve all what we have achieved so far as as a ministry. Addressing,the Ofudua ward Excos and some members of the Assembly on Sunday 19th April at Obubra, the Director General noted that it has become necessary for the Assembly to state it’s clear cut intentions and declare openly their support for the betterment of the Etung people.

The coordinating team of the Miss politics Nigeria beauty contest in collaboration with pet media and events brand has just concluded the first edition of miss politics Nigeria beauty contest in the central part of cross River State on Sunday 12th April at Hyglo hotel Ikom.

The event which had over 25(twenty five contestants but saw only 7 (seven) to the finals, with Miss Jessica Edet as winner,Miss Mordom patience as first runner up and Miss Eucharia Gold as second runner up.

The Etung Chapter of the All progressive Congress (APC) led by Hon Emmanuel Ndum has on the 7th March 2026 held it wards inaugural meeting at the council headquarters in Effraya.

Addressing party men & women at the event, the chapter Chairman of the party,Hon Emmanuel Ndum stressed on the need to strengthen grass Root generated support for party that will cumulate into a landslide victory at the 2027 General Election.

He However pledged his commitment to the party leadership in the state while promising to work in synergy with the chapter & Ward Excos.

” I’m delighted to stand before you today as party chairman. I am working 100% with the leadership of our party in the state & be rest assured that I will work very closely with the stakeholders and my Excos at the chapter and ward level to ensure that Etung delivers 100% in the next General election.

Whatever belongs to the ward Chairmen I will give to the ward Chairmen without any prejudice. And so, dear team member we must work together in unity despite our individual leadership fronts in other to achieve great results for our party and make our sweet Governor happy”

Also commenting at the ceremony, The Leader of Etung Legislative council,Hon Comr Ojong ThankGod task especially the wards leadership of party ensure massive ward mobilization and encourage new entry into the party for adequate delivery of all the party candidates by 2027.

Responding on behalf the Wards Chairmen, Atu Alfred Expressed their gratitude to God & to the party for the opportunity to serve the party. He added that the ward Chairmen will work very closely with the chapter Chairman to deliver the Party mandate given to them.

Stakeholders across the the cross River State Central senatorial district has charged the central select initiative group to advocate for only credible candidates for the Senate and House of representative seat across the central senatorial district of Cross River State.

Addressing the Hon commissioner, The team led Hon Comr Ejeh peter stressed on the need to strengthen community development by participating in the process that we midwife to Bird of quality leaders in central CRS.

Apst Dr Julius Egbe,Hon Agbor Stanley amongst others who equally spoke at the meeting took out time to outline the objectives and program of the “CRS CENTRAL SELECT INITIATIVE GROUP in agreement the submission of the director General, while reiterating the group commitment to supporting the people’s first Agenda of the Governor.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to his today at calabar,The Honourable commissioner for Human capital and entrepreneur development cross River State Hon Kingsley Egumi stated that the group must work hard in ensuring that they market only credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

” This group is very much in other and must ensure that only credible candidates are advocated for. The system has its way but your group must ensure that the system produces the Best. The Obubra-Etung political Assembly led by comr Ejeh peter has endorsed His Excellency, sen.prince Bassey Edet Otu the Executive Governor of Cross River State & His Deputy Rt Hon Peter Odey for a second in office.

The Assembly, led by the Director General Comr Ejeh peter held the largely Attended mega Endorsement Rally at Ovonum crutech field Obubra on Thursday 18th December 2025 to declare their total support for the sweet Governor of Cross River State and His deputy.

Ejeh, Addressing the crowd moved a motion for the endorsement of the Governor, Senator, Prince Bassey Edet Otu and His deputy Rt Hon Peter Odey for a second term and the adoption in favour of both of them was done by a voice note in favour of both of them.

Speaking further, he however decried the current reality of the supposed misrepresentation of the federal constituency administration while urgent Ayuk to venture in to race giving assurance of the Assembly full backings and support come 2027.

The Obubra-Etung political Assembly led by comr Ejeh peter has hinted that with the commitment of the special Assistant on support groups matters Comr (Prince) Clement Asanye the APC unified support groups in the state will give more votes to His Excellency,Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu and other candidates by 2027.

Addressing the special Assistant during a courtesy visit to office in calabar on Wednesday morning,Sen Atu Alfred the BOT chairman of the Obubra -Etung political Assembly mentioned that with the manner at which the special Assistant has coordinated the activities of the support groups in the state so far, the Governor is set to receive far more votes by 2027.

The Assembly used the opportunity of the Ward tour to announce their intention to endorse the Governor of Cross River State and His deputy on Thursday the 18th December at Ovonum, Obubra LGA by 10am & to sensitize the communities on voters registration & the Assembly objectives.

Speaking at the pre- mega Rally Ward tour at Bendeghe Ekien in Etung LGA on Friday 5th December,The DG stressed the need for all to continue to support the people’s first Government of the sweet prince. The leader of Etung Legislative council Hon Comr Ojong ThankGod Ekupnse has empowered constituents with cash and school material to support returning students and freshers as well as members of the The Abia student association to enable them cope with Academic needs.

Again, the woman and chiefs were not left out as a reasonable number of women were given rappers to the women, while the Chief received succour.

This gesture rating one of its kind in the Annuals of the community was carried out by the leader of council as part of activities to mark his one in office thanksgiving at Abia village in Etung LGA two Sundays ago at as the time of this publication.

The Event, which equally had a church session with chairmaned by Bishop Hon Christian Achor Agbor the political leader of the Ward and Director General of the Ikom urban development authority.

In his remarks, Ojong noted that this is one of the ways of servicing the community for the mandate given to him to serve his people.

” today, we are gathered at my instance in thanksgiving to God for the mandate you people gave to me, first as Councillor representing Abia Ward and secondly as leader of Etung council.

I have some items for the student and women as application for the journey so far and more will as time goes by.” He said.

During their remarks amongst others, the leaders of Ikom and Obubra legislative council expressed their gratitude to the leader of Etung for such gesture noting that nothing less was expected of him.

This weekend the C’River Commissioner for Health Hon Dr Egbe made three important visits to Obubra LGA communities.

At Ovonum where he was received by traditional rulers and leaders of the community at Ovonum Health Center, the Commissioner reiterated Gov Otu’s people centered mantra and promised immediate uplift of the facility.

At Ogada in Obubra Urban, where he was hosted by a volunteer peace and security corps, he promised to assist with procurement of necessary tools to strengthen their operations.

He ended the day at Ochon where he was hosted at Treasure Hotel by its owner Mr Egare alias 001, Mr John Okpa alias Long John and other youths.

In all three locations, the common denominator in his message was the total support for Governor Otu to finish strong and win 2027. He told the people of Obubra and Etung to rise and brace up for a change for an effective, pragmatic and performing representation of the federal constituency devoid of emotional narratives. A leadership owes its constituents service not number of tenures in office.

” Our Dear Governor His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu my Boss is performing Excellency well. We shall continue to support him and return him come 2027 for a second term; Our Support is total for our Governor.

The event which took place at osele events center at Ajassor mission had in attendance meaningful personalities to include, community based leaders, Youths and women groups amongst others.

Addressing guests at the event, The Director General Comr Ejeh peter who spoke in a writing address through the secretary general Engr Ephraim Akamo noted that the activity is meant to reawaken community consciousness to the current reality of the constituency politics, create awareness for more community participation in the ongoing voters registration, calvanize support for the constituency organic Mega Rally of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu,His Deputy and other key positions ahead of 2027.

“We are here simply to engage with the Grass Root on the need to get their voters card ready for 2027 and that’s why we are saying operation get your voters card ready for 2027. The Honourable commissioner for Health Cross River State,Eld Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has announced Educational support scheme for JSS1 students of the Obubra -Etung federal constituency set to commence in a couple of days.

Addressing the women wind of the Obubra -Etung political Assembly during a courtesy visit to his office in calabar, Ayuk explained that the initiative is to encourage Educational drive from the kindergarten level going forward.

“It is my desire to see our young people continue to develop and grow. Education is one of the main strands of development and our constituency needs it to develop. This scheme is better and more resourceful than sharing spoil and unproductive items in the guise of empowerment. This scheme is starting with the JSS1 students of all public schools in Obubra and Etung and will encourage our young students to be encouraged to study further. Ayuk said.

Reiterating his support for the group, Ayuk used the opportunity to recount the positive impact of the Governor Otu’s People’s first administration and stressed on the need for all to support the Governor even beyond 2031.

In a turn out of events as the build up to the 2027 General elections continue to draw close, Barr Gilbert Agbor the special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Assets management and Recovery has refuted the claims by the NCPP in a recent media publication requesting him to run for the house of representative seat for Obubra Etung federal constituency by 2027.

This decision follows a publication by the group inviting Agbor to come out and contest and express the group firm support for him should he decides to contest.

The Secretary to the Government of Cross River State (SSG),Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh has charged Cross River State youths to work on self development.

In the darkest state of political neglect and misrepresentation, a vision was born that is channeled towards the emancipation of the Obubra-Etung people.

The event which took place at Kings Bar had in attendance over 300 hundred members of group spanning from the 21 wards of the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Barr John Ebokpo who chaired the event although represented by chief Julius Ebingha stressed on the need of continued unity amongst the Local Governments that makes up the constituency.

Drawing back memory lane, the chairman noted the strategic role of late Chief John Okpa The political Build up the constituency the birthed Late Hon Ebuta Tangban and advocated political fresh air by 2027 to user in leaders that will stay true to the people.

” We are working across bored.God willing before the second quarter of next year we will transform the existing leprosy facility into a standard center for TB treatment. Leprosy is no longer prevalent as it were, hence,no use of the current facilities, that is why we must remodel that place for effective use TB purpose.

On the 15th of August at my home town God willing I will be flagging the health insurance scheme for twenty vulnerable persons each across the twenty one wards that makes up the Obubra/Etung federal constituency for two years. The scheme is sponsored from my personal source”he Said.

The Executive Chairman of Akpabuyo local government area, Hon. Effiong Bassey Effiom has admonished youths of Cross River State to build viable careers even while monitoring political developments.
He made this assertion during a courtesy visit on him by organizers of the the much anticipated Cross River State Political Summit.

Hon. Bassey Effiom noted that while government policies has consequential effects on almost every facet of human endeavors, competency deduced from career progression remains surest path to human capital development with a cascaded impact on society.

The Executive Chairman also advocated for restoration of social orders against the growing trends of ‘get rich quick’ syndrome reflective in increased cybercrimes, kidnapping for ransom, ritual killings among other social vices eroding values, emphasizing both short and long term implications of such practices in the nation.

The Akpabuyo Council boss sued organizers of the summit to seize the occasion to reinvigorate family values that defines traditional African aesthetics.
While pledging unalloyed support for the Summit, her urged that the gathering be a fertile ground for cross-fertilization of ideas in line with His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s developmental blueprint for the state as christine in his ‘People First’ mantra.

Meanwhile, Comr. In advancing the course of democratic practices in Nigeria with specifics to Cross River, organizers of Cross River State Political Summit (CRSPS), began statewide consultations to critical stakeholders in the ‘Project CRS’. The Summit which among others seeks to groom the youth demography for political participation undertakes this customary consultations to learn political history that will inform her outlook for the forthcoming event. To this end, proponents of this school of thought paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Mary Egbai, Commissioner 3, Cross River State Planning Commission in her office in Calabar.

After a warm reception by the host, the team led by Comr. Ejeh Peter, her state Coordinator, explained that identifying Dr. Mrs Mary Egbai as matron of the crusade equates to spotting a golden fish, testament to her sterling and enduring leadership prowess with direct bearings on populace. He eulogized her for molding next generation of leaders with philosophical objectivity. Also contributing, Prince Atibile Williams, Boki project Coordinator said the Summit is a stimulant for sociopolitical and economic transformation, emphasizing the need for youth inclusivity in governance.

Meanwhile, in her response, the state Planning Commissioner 3 appreciated the forum for finding her worthy for mentorship, emphasizing her commitment to shaping her generation positively. The Philosopher turned public servant lauded women in leadership positions while calling on other women to join hands in nation building. She acknowledged the Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s administration blueprints on recalibrating developmental gears in the state with women as pathfinders. Dr. Mary says

“I am delighted to see young people in their numbers clamoring for good of our dear Cross River State. This gives me great hope that our future is secured with our youths as leaders of tomorrow. This indeed is a welcome development. The governor will be very happy to find his youths useful to themselves and society by extension.

“This summit is a germane development to our state. I will do all within my reach to ensure your outing is successful. Hence this is for the growth of our state, I will key in totality to this idea. I appreciate you for considering me as one of your matron despite thousands and millions of other women in the state. I assure you that this gesture is not taken for granted. I wholeheartedly accept that honour and responsibility.

“Her Excellency will gladly align with your vision, hence you are not promoters of social vices. Her desire is to have the youths gainfully busy in their chosen professions, especially the female folks. Let us collectively shun negativity and entrench a culture of productivity in Cross River State.

“Gender inclusivity should be a watchword in your activities. Doing so gives a sense of belonging to the female folks. Women plays a significant role to societal development. Importantly is the fact that women should make themselves available for service, a justification for seeking gender equality. Over all, no gender is better than the other. All of us are created with our unique features.” She stated.

In a related development, the Summit train arrived the domain of Hon. Samuel Neji Abang, Member, Ikom 1 State Constituency, Cross River State House of Assembly for further consultations. The visit witnessed cross-fertilization of ideas metamorphosing into grand endorsement of the Political Summit aimed at birthing a novel sociopolitical narrative by the erudite state Parliamentarian.

As the expectation amongst Nigerians for good governance and quality service delivery by public office holders continue to increase,key stakeholders and kinsmen of Etung LGA have scored the Cross River State Commissioner for Health,Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk PhD very high on his performance so far.

Speaking during a courtesy call by Dr Ayuk and his team to the country home of Prince Ebuta Ojöng Ayuk at Effraya in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State during the Yuletide, Prince Ebuta, a former Presidential Adviser and political Big wig stated that Dr Ayuk is undoubtedly a highly rated performing Commissioner in the state.

“Dr Ayuk remains one leader in Etung with endearing Humility. I have in one of My engagement with His Excellency, mentioned that, amongst the many appointments made in Etung LGA,Dr Ayuk appointment remains very impactful. I have friends who are equally top Government official but in terms of delivery I don’t think Dr Ayuk is out of the first eleven.

In a similar development, in a felicitation meeting with the Traditional Rulers Council of Etung Local Government Area during the Christmas festivities the traditional rulers commended the sumptuous relationship the Commissioner is having with the traditional rulers in the Local Government Area noting that, the benevolence and commitment of the Commissioner in strengthening the Health sector amongst other strategic health policy development in the state and beyond is visible to the blind and laudable to the deaf.

For the acting paramount Ruler of Etung LGA, Ntufam Anthony Etta “The commissioner for Health is the only appointee of Government that keeps reaching out to us. The last time during the local Government election, he was about the only appointee that gave out to us. He gives us gifts and keeps to his promises. Today, he is the only appointee that has come to share Christmas items with us. This is obviously the first time any commissioner is doing that and so the chiefs are grateful and will continue to support the commissioner” he said while thanking the commissioner and his team.

Under the initiative and proactive leadership of Ntufam Hon Patrick Ebam Emmanghe as the President General of Ochimabiji Nkan Esam cultural festival, Etomi community is set to be experiencing strengthened unity, showcasing team spirit and promoting culture.

The 7th edition of this annual epoch making festival was again held at the primary school field at Etomi community in Etung LGA on Thursday 2nd January 2025 attracting personalities across the globe.

Addressing the crowd, the president general Hon Ebam noted that the steadfastness of the event have been dependent on God and ingenuity of the organizing team for each year. He thanked the various age grades for their commitment to the success of the festival with specification to the strategic role of the Coordinator , Dr Cyril Agbor and planning committee chairman, Mr Ntui Emmanuel Abba Mowoe.

The event featured age grades parade, Cultural displays, Empowerment as well as lecture and good – will speeches.

During his lecture, the guest speaker, a political big wig Ntufam Hon Gabriel Odu Oji called for the remodification of some community rules to enhance development.

The Cross River State Commissioner for Health Dr Egbe Ayuk has told participants at the ongoing World Bank assisted IMPACT Training Conference on quality of care in Calabar that Cross River will be hosting the next National Council on Health in 2025.

The Commissioner who was full of praises for the Governor of the State His Excellency Prince Bassey Edet Otu for making this possible told his audience that the decision was taken through a competitive process at the recently held 65th National Council on Health in Maiduguri Borno State.

He said that by the 2014 National Health Act, the National Council on Health remains the highest level for decision making on health, it approves National policies relating to health and enables the provision of health promotion, maintenance and basic health services for the country.

It will engineer real change in the health sector of Cross River State through effective participation by stakeholders in the state, memo development, shared learning and peer reviews with stakeholders from other parts of the country and international community. He enjoined the State and its entire health workforce to show more commitment towards health service delivery and be prepared to showcase best practices in the State Health sector to the world
Speaking earlier the Director of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Vivian Otu had admonished participants at the training to maximize the opportunity the training offers to enhance their use of the tools to improve quality of services be delivered in the health facilities in the State

The 2024 Ikom carnival has been concluded today with Yakurr LGA Led By Hon Cyril Omini winning the first position with Etung LGA coming second.

The Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has advocated for improved incentives to encourage staff performance in institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

The Commissioner who was speaking at the maiden Awards Ceremony of the College of Medical Sciences of the University of Calabar on Friday advised Universities and similar institutions to institutionalize policies to strengthen reward systems to enhance performance and attainment of goals.

He said that human resources remain a most important factor for organizational growth and scorecard performance. He praised Prof Ngim Ngim the Provost of the Medical College and his team for organizing the week program to reward retired workers of the college, former management staff, sport men and women and students with peculiar skills. Dr Ayuk urged other institutions to emulate this pace setting example to provide a excellent work environment for staff promotion and performance

The member representing Etung in the Cross House of Assembly,Hon Kingsley Ntui Isong has given support in purchase of the forms for all Etung sons and daughters who are willing to participate in the fourth coming Mr & Miss Etung LGA on the occasion of the 2nd Edition of The Etung Christmas fiesta proposed the on Sunday December 29th at Etomi ward.

By this development,all those interested in the competition will get forms free by indicating their interest.

The event of the Etung Christmas fiesta is meant to foster unity amongst Etung sons and daughters,promote Etung cultural and natural heritage and equally Honour meaningful sons and daughters of Etung who have recorded remarkable achievements with the Etung Achievers Award on the occasion.

The Executive chairman of Etung LGA Hon Henry Njar Anom has resumed duty in council as the Executive chairman of Etung LGA.

The chairman who was accompanied by his Vice chairman amongst other person directed the immediate Removal of all Illegal structures defacing the entrance of Etung and the unlawful encroachment along Mfum border road from the Etung international market today Thursday 7th November 2024.

The chairman in his brief comment addressing comments to the Holga Mr Anthony Ede noted that a new era of developmental strides in Etung LGA has just begun.

He expressed Fulfillment and called for synergy amongst all parties in other to move Etung forward pet media can confidently report.

The cross River State Health Commissioner, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has today reiterated his confidence in the ability of the newly enaugrated chairman of Etung LGA, Hon Henry Njar Anom to dilever in his duties as chairman.

Speaking at the event which took place at Jorany hotel today Monday the 4th November 2024 at calabar, Ayuk advised all stakeholders to give all their support to the chairman stressing that he believes in capacity of the chairman to do well.

The CRS commissioner for Health,Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk PhD has continued to demonstrate capacity not only in delivering his administrative duties in the health sector of the state but also demonstrated leadership across bored and particularly for Etung LGA where he hails from.

It was a bread taking occasion yesterday the 28th of October 2024 at Jorany hotel ikom in a fundraising Dinner put together by the All Progressive Congress (APC) Etung LGA where he was chairman of occasion to raise funds in support of the APC chairmanship candidates of Etung LGA.

Dr Ayuk who donated handsomely call on all meaningful sons and daughters of Etung both at home and in the diaspora to collectively support all the APC candidates in the November 2 CRS LGA election in Etung LGA describing the chairmanship(Anom) and vice chairmanship (Assam) candidates as best men for the job.

In almost the same tune, The APC Etung chapter chairman Hon Ntui Ndifon and The Director general of the Henry Anom campaign Dr Cyril Agbor use the occasion to call on all attendees to made meaningful contributions to the project stating that in less than 24 hours the online WhatsApp group has recorded remarkable contributions so far.

The high point of the event had members making donations with some major stakeholders taking the lead.
