The Cross River State Political Assembly Support Group (CRISPA) has received strong endorsements from key stakeholders in the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, following separate engagements with the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Dr. Ijom Ukam, and the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Christopher Etta.

The stakeholders commended CRISPA for its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political inclusion and the promotion of support for the People First Administration, as well as its efforts toward the 2027 general elections.

The engagements took place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Calabar, when a delegation of the political assembly paid separate courtesy visits to the two political leaders.

Ukam Pledges Support, Commends CRISPA Leadership

Receiving the CRISPA delegation, Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Dr. Ijom Ukam, expressed delight over the initiative to bring together members from different local government areas and wards across Cross River State under a common platform.

Ukam described the group’s mobilisation efforts as commendable, particularly in an environment where political interests and sentiments often compete for attention.

He pledged his full support to the organisation in his capacity as its leader and patron, assuring members that he would continue to provide the necessary guidance and support.

The commissioner said the recognition also represented an affirmation of his efforts toward youth development in the state, expressing optimism that the sector would continue to receive attention under Governor Otu’s administration.

Ukam also commended the Director-General of CRISPA, Comr. Amb. Ejeh Peter, for what he described as effective leadership, commitment and grassroots mobilisation.

The commissioner urged members of CRISPA to remain focused, resilient and committed to their objectives, cautioning them against being distracted by rumours, sentiments and political gossip.

He stressed that the overall interest, peace and development of Cross River State should remain the primary consideration of all stakeholders.

Ukam further described Governor Bassey Edet Otu as a people-centred leader who, according to him, is committed to transforming the state and improving the welfare of Cross Riverians.

He said the administration’s efforts to address underdevelopment and unemployment reflected its determination to create greater economic opportunities and a more prosperous future for the people of the state.

Etta Tasks CRISPA on Wider Grassroots Mobilisation

In a separate engagement at the APC State Secretariat in Calabar, the CRISPA delegation was received by the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Rt. Hon. Christopher Etta, alongside members of the party’s State Working Committee.

Etta commended the group for moving beyond political rhetoric to demonstrate what he described as visible commitment to grassroots mobilisation and support for the administration.

The APC chairman highlighted the strategic importance of major projects and initiatives of the administration, including the Bakassi Deep Seaport, which he said would create opportunities for business expansion, investment, connectivity and employment.

He urged CRISPA members to intensify their mobilisation efforts across the state and ensure that their support for the administration translates into broader grassroots engagement.

Etta called for unity among party supporters and urged members of the group to remain steadfast in their commitment to the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

CRISPA Promises Statewide Mobilisation

Earlier, the Director-General of CRISPA, Comr. Amb. Ejeh Peter, reaffirmed the organisation’s determination to mobilise its members across the 18 local government areas of Cross River State in support of Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s re-election bid and the election of APC candidates in the forthcoming polls.

Ejeh said the group was committed to building a broad grassroots network capable of strengthening political participation and fostering greater engagement between the government and the people.

He disclosed that CRISPA was planning a major inauguration, endorsement and solidarity walk as part of its mobilisation programme, tentatively scheduled for September 26 or October 3, 2026, subject to final confirmation.

According to him, the activities are designed to further demonstrate the group’s solidarity and consolidate its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

The separate engagements with the Commissioner for Youth Development and the APC State Chairman highlighted the growing emphasis on grassroots mobilisation, political inclusion and active citizen participation in Cross River State’s political process.

The visits featured the presentation of sashes, plaques and other CRISPA materials and documents to the stakeholders.
