OBUDU STANDS STILL IN HONOUR AS FANNY ODEY LAYS MOTHER TO REST

OBUDU, CROSS RIVER STATE — FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2026

It was a weekend of deep emotions, honour, solidarity, and an extraordinary display of goodwill in Obudu on Friday, August 28, 2026, as family members, friends, political leaders, government officials, community leaders, technocrats, business personalities, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and beyond converged to stand with Fanny Odey wife of the cross River State deputy Chief of staff Hon Boniface Okache and the entire Odey family as they laid their beloved mother to rest.

The ceremony, which attracted an impressive gathering of dignitaries and personalities from diverse spheres of society, was not only a solemn farewell to a departed matriarch but also a remarkable demonstration of the extensive goodwill and relationships enjoyed by the Odey family.

Among the prominent political personalities associated with the occasion were His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and his dear wife, whose presence was duly represented at the ceremony. Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe was also represented, with his condolence message conveyed to the bereaved family.

The event further attracted the presence of the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Peter A., the Executive Chairman of Etung, Hon. Henry Njar Anom, and the Executive Chairman of Obubra, Hon.
