CRS Youths Commissioner Ijom Ukam Mobilises Thousands for Tinubu, Otu at Presidential Rally in Calabar
The Cross River State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Ijom Ukam, has demonstrated his political mobilisation capacity by rallying thousands of young people in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar.
The massive youth mobilisation, coordinated by the Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Mobilisation of the Cross River State Political Assembly (CRISPA), formed part of activities ahead of and during the APC presidential campaign rally held at the Calabar Stadium on Monday, November 2.
Under the leadership of Barr. Ukam, thousands of youths and members of various political support groups turned out in solidarity with President Tinubu, Governor Otu and other APC candidates, reinforcing the party’s grassroots support base in the state.
The mobilisation was preceded by a pre-rally awareness walk on Sunday, November 1, which attracted an impressive gathering of political support groups. Participants marched from Mary Slessor Roundabout to the Governor’s Office in Calabar, demonstrating their readiness for the presidential campaign rally.
At the rally, the presence of the youths mobilised through the Ministry of Youth Development and CRISPA further underscored the growing involvement of young people in the political activities of the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bassey Otu urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Cross River State, to support President Tinubu and other APC candidates. He highlighted some of the Federal Government’s policies and projects which he said would positively impact the state.
Similarly, Senator Adams Oshiomhole highlighted key initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including the restoration of oil wells to Cross River State, the proposed expansion of the state’s deep seaport and the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.
Oshiomhole specifically urged Cross Riverians to support President Tinubu, stating:
“Cross River State should support President Tinubu to complete the Calabar-Lagos road. Mr President has restored your oil wells, and he is expanding your deep seaport. Thousands of students from Cross River State have benefited from the student loan scheme.”
The rally attracted the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing President Tinubu, alongside top government officials, APC leaders and political stakeholders from across the country.
Barr. Ijom Ukam’s role in coordinating the massive youth turnout highlighted the strategic importance of youth engagement and grassroots mobilisation in strengthening the APC’s political structure in Cross River State.
Through the coordinated participation of CRISPA and the Ministry of Youth Development, the mobilisation also demonstrated the commitment of Cross River youths to the political leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu.
