A two term Member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Agbiji Mbe Agbiji on Wednesday in Calabar during courtesy visit to his abode by planning Committee of forthcoming Cross River State Central Political Summit re-emphasized pivotal role of youths to societal development as societies goes into extinction for lack of productive youths demography.
The seasoned lawmaker posited that young people have energy, new intelligence, new ideas and ambitions to prove a point.
He classified them as catalyst for socioeconomic and political development.
According to RT. Hon. Agbiji Mbe Agbiji, to harness these potentials, emerging leaders must have capacity to deliver, must be visionary, compassionate and of mental faculty to be analytical, pragmatic, realistic, objective, to engage in self criticism and accommodative of diverse opinions.
The Okuni born politician said hosting the Central Political Summit in a cataclysmic atmosphere such as this will provide participants ample opportunity to interrogate existing ideas bedeviling the Senatorial District with a view to orchestrate a reorientation packed with glad tidings.
However, he admonished youths of the District specifically to shun drugs, cultism and other social vices capable of undermining values of shared humanity.
Speaking earlier, the summit organizers emphasized potency of periodic cross fertilization of ideas aimed at recalibration of developmental wheels in Central Senatorial District and State by extension through instrumentality of projected annual event such as Cross River Central Political Summit.
