Cross River State Political Summit Organizers Intensifies Statewide Consultations

In advancing the course of democratic practices in Nigeria with specifics to Cross River, organizers of Cross River State Political Summit (CRSPS), began statewide consultations to critical stakeholders in the ‘Project CRS’. The Summit which among others seeks to groom the youth demography for political participation undertakes this customary consultations to learn political history that will inform her outlook for the forthcoming event. To this end, proponents of this school of thought paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Mary Egbai, Commissioner 3, Cross River State Planning Commission in her office in Calabar.
After a warm reception by the host, the team led by Comr. Ejeh Peter, her state Coordinator, explained that identifying Dr. Mrs Mary Egbai as matron of the crusade equates to spotting a golden fish, testament to her sterling and enduring leadership prowess with direct bearings on populace. He eulogized her for molding next generation of leaders with philosophical objectivity. Also contributing, Prince Atibile Williams, Boki project Coordinator said the Summit is a stimulant for sociopolitical and economic transformation, emphasizing the need for youth inclusivity in governance.
Meanwhile, in her response, the state Planning Commissioner 3 appreciated the forum for finding her worthy for mentorship, emphasizing her commitment to shaping her generation positively. The Philosopher turned public servant lauded women in leadership positions while calling on other women to join hands in nation building. She acknowledged the Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s administration blueprints on recalibrating developmental gears in the state with women as pathfinders. Dr. Mary says
“I am delighted to see young people in their numbers clamoring for good of our dear Cross River State. This gives me great hope that our future is secured with our youths as leaders of tomorrow. This indeed is a welcome development. The governor will be very happy to find his youths useful to themselves and society by extension.
“This summit is a germane development to our state. I will do all within my reach to ensure your outing is successful. Hence this is for the growth of our state, I will key in totality to this idea. I appreciate you for considering me as one of your matron despite thousands and millions of other women in the state. I assure you that this gesture is not taken for granted. I wholeheartedly accept that honour and responsibility.
“Her Excellency will gladly align with your vision, hence you are not promoters of social vices. Her desire is to have the youths gainfully busy in their chosen professions, especially the female folks. Let us collectively shun negativity and entrench a culture of productivity in Cross River State.
“Gender inclusivity should be a watchword in your activities. Doing so gives a sense of belonging to the female folks. Women plays a significant role to societal development. Importantly is the fact that women should make themselves available for service, a justification for seeking gender equality. Over all, no gender is better than the other. All of us are created with our unique features.” She stated.
In a related development, the Summit train arrived the domain of Hon. Samuel Neji Abang, Member, Ikom 1 State Constituency, Cross River State House of Assembly for further consultations. The visit witnessed cross-fertilization of ideas metamorphosing into grand endorsement of the Political Summit aimed at birthing a novel sociopolitical narrative by the erudite state Parliamentarian.
Hon. Abang charged organizers of the Summit to unite Cross Riverians across political divides as the system is highly influenced by dynamics, urging the Summit to be a platform for projecting government programs aimed at ameliorating gross sufferings. Highlight of the evening was Hon. Samuel Neji Abang’s decoration as one of the Summit’s patron.
