Read full later below.

Mr. Kelvin Njong
Chapter Chairman, APC, and Commissioner, Cross River State Forestry Commission

Dear Mr. Njong,

We address you today with great importance regarding your dual roles as Chapter Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Commissioner of the Cross River State Forestry Commission. While your dedication to public service is commendable, we believe it is crucial to bring to your attention the potential conflicts of interest and the need for you to relinquish one of these positions to maintain the integrity and trust in our institutions.

As you are aware, your duties as Chapter Chairman of APC and Commissioner of the Forestry Commission may lead to conflicts of interest, compromising your ability to discharge your responsibilities impartially. The potential for partisan influence and bias in decision-making could undermine the credibility of both offices and lead to a crisis of confidence.

In light of this, we respectfully request that you resign from one of the positions with immediate effect. We suggest you choose the role that aligns most closely with your true passion and expertise, allowing you to focus on it without the burden of conflicting responsibilities.

We believe this decision will avert potential conflicts, ensure the integrity of both offices, and maintain the trust of the people in our institutions. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Yours profoundly,
Concerned Boki Youths for Good governance

THE PLACE OF CENTRAL IN CROSS RIVER STATE POLITICS: REVIEWING THE PERFORMANCES OF POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS IN CENTRAL

BY

EDOR J. EDOR Ph.D

ON THE OCCASION OF:
CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT POLITICAL SUMMIT

HELD AT:
NOGAK POLYTECHNIC, IKOM, CROSS RIVER STATE

ON THE 27TH OF MAY, 2024.

PROTOCOL:
It gives me great pleasure to be amongst you to present this piece on an auspicious gathering which will shape the political thinking and organization especially of the youths of Central Cross River State. This is a gathering I must suggest of like minds that is, a gathering of Leaders as well as emerging leaders from the Central. This is indeed the right time to deliberate on issues that mostly affect our senatorial district. It is the right time because we are off political seasons per say, nevertheless that we are all political beings in Aristotle’s parlance.

For emphasis, Central Senatorial District comprises of the following Local Government Councils; Ikom, Etung, Boki, Ugep, Obubra and Abi. Central especially Ikom is regarded as the business hub of Cross River State. With the presence of Cocoa and other business activities, Central has emerged the fulcrum, the support system of Cross River State. Could this have contributed to why the youths have no motivation in participating in active politics?

The most pertinent questions to be answered in a political summit such as this are; who is a Politician? What are the duties of a politician? Why participate in politics? Can we hold our politicians accountable? What are the causes of political apathy? These questions and many more will form our discussion as we progress. These questions I am sure when elaborated in vivid terms, perfectly captures the thrust of the topic under discourse. As we answer the questions, it shall become clearer what the purpose of politics is.

Before we proceed into our discussions, I made some interactions with some youths, asking them what the aim of politics is, and all they could tell me was that “if not to make money, what will take them into politics? Is it not because of that, that politicians go extra miles to gain or regain their political positions?” I was perplexed by their answers, because they reflect the wrong notion of politics, and this is exactly why this political summit becomes important and inevitable.

Arising from the questions above, a politician is one who from amongst the people takes up the responsibility of leading others through a democratic election. In a loose sense, it can be said that everybody is a politician, just as Aristotle commented that “we are all political animals”. Aristotle’s statement means that every human being has the driving force for leadership, because it is through leadership that the society is formed and developed. When we shy away from politics, we allow the election of leaders into the hands of few, a few that do not care about the welfare of everyone but of their own pockets. They rather choose leaders according to the desires and satisfaction of their pockets, rather than the demands of the society. So, from the loose sense of who a politician is, everyone is supposed to be involved in the process of choosing a leader, that is, everyone is supposed to be interested in politics, because politics is the determining force upon which the society grows. This is so because when leaders are elected, the policies and laws they promulgate shapes the economy of the country upon which our life is dependent on.

From the above, we can deduce that the functions of a politician who has now been elected into an office for the purpose of leadership, is simply to provide and take care of the needs of the individuals in the society, to protect the lives and properties of individuals in the society, and to make laws and policies that are relevant to the growth of the society. These are not all the functions, but these are the most common a leader is supposed to provide. He is supposed to provide the basic needs of the people ranging from good roads, electricity, good water, security, education, employment, etc. The politician is to hold unto what is the common good of the people. You may choose to ask yourself if this is the case with the Nigerian politics.

Furthermore, the failure of leaders to provide the basic needs of the people is the springboard upon which people go into politics. But how well do they perform when in office? Many politicians perform so well in enriching their pockets, forgetting that the driving force of their becoming a leader was to serve the people by providing their needs. The failure of leadership is what should motivate youths especially from Central to take politics seriously. Why will you as a youth take so much interest in other things and forget about politics? Many youths are not interested in politics because they erroneously feel that politics is devilish or as the usual saying goes “it’s a dirty game”. Such aphorisms are meant to scare people away from politics, so that a few group of individuals will continuously occupy positions of leadership. But let me say it today in this summit that there is nothing devilish about politics, there is nothing dirty about politics, its only dependent on how you play it, and no one can choose for you how to play politics.

If by chance you ask yourself what the place of Central is in Cross River State politics, you will come to realize that Central is the foundation of Cross River State politics. Central Senatorial district is blessed with a lot of prominent politicians who have not just served in the state, but have taken leadership positions across the country and the world. So, Central has a high place in Cross River State’s politics. If so, why is Central still the way it is? At least, every community in Central has a prominent politician, then why is there no development?

Apart from this current dispensation where the south has produced two Governors equaling the Central, it is on record that Central have produced two Governors in the likes of His Excellency Clement Ebri and Sen. Liyel Imoke. I passionately ask; what lasting impacts did their reign in office create? The few legacies they created, have they not died away as time progressed? Going away from them, can we hold unto any befitting company, hospital, school and the likes in Central and attribute it to the achievements of any politician or office holder from the Central? What really are our leaders doing? Let there be government’s presence in Central, and you will see a turn around or massive change.

The people of Central are natural farmers, they need good roads to transport their farm produce, the reverse is the case, bad roads everywhere. The people needs good water, they need electricity. Electricity in Central have become a huge failure, 80% of the villages in Central have no light, the politicians have brought solar lights to make us forget about electricity. Indeed, from the Central, our complains are more than our gains, our sorrows are more than our joys, our failures are more than our successes. We need more positive energy, we need to re-strategize, we need to have a rethinking, we need to form an alliance to ensure there is government’s presence in Central.

Sited here are all politicians and emerging politicians. The emerging politicians should learn the core of politics before going into it, they should know that politics is not for personal aggrandizement, politics is not a place to go and make money, politics is a machinery for electing credible leaders with the right thinking to lead the people. Many youths who see politics as an avenue to make money will go into any extent ensuring they make the money. This has resulted into them being political thugs, assassins, and gangsters. They are youths fighting against their fellow youths. At the end, they have nothing to show, only to die in a manner they have perpetrated to others. I ask you, I mean all of you the youths, do you want to waste your lives by becoming a political thug? Do you not know that you also have the ability to become a leader? Becoming a leader is demonstrated by the knowledge expressed. Francis Bacon says “knowledge is power”. Socrates is of the opinion that “knowledge is good, and ignorance is the vice”. Do not allow your ignorance to push you into what you cannot sustain, do not allow your ignorance to make you become a threat amongst your peers, do not allow your ignorance to fast forward you into your graves. Seek for knowledge as an emerging leader, consult for wisdom, strive to make a positive difference, learn the rubrics of leadership.

Political apathy is a situation where people find disinterestedness in politics. It is a situation where people relegate politics for other things. It is a situation of becoming apolitical. Political apathy will be the death of politics if the right steps are not taken. The right steps to be taken are for leaders to live up to their responsibilities. Provide the means of livelihood to the people. In fact, “let the poor breathe”. I will not add “do not suffocate them” because they are suffocated already. Now is the time to resuscitate them by doing the right things. Leaders should take up their duties. Many people are political apathies because they feel there is no need wasting their time, as their vote is not been counted. No, whether you vote or not, your votes count. If you choose not to vote, you have chosen to vote for an incompetent leader because if you came out to vote, you would have voted for a credible leader. Let us say no to political apathy. Arising from here, let us carry the message of a new Central Senatorial District. Let us educate others who are still ignorant, in the nearest 2027, let your votes count.

As your votes count into electing a leader, the next thing is to hold them accountable for their actions. All leaders were elected to represent the interests of the people, so, they should be accountable. Ask them to show their achievements and scorecards. It is not enough to just elect a leader, you must do a follow up of your leaders. When you elect a leader and allow him or her to function the way they like, they may go astray. Leaders need our criticisms, they need our advice, they need to listen to the people. With these, they can perform well.

I wish to appreciate the organizers of this event, and I wish to state it that nothing should deter them from what they have started. Though some politicians will try to tear you apart, they will try to divide you, they will try to win you over to their side with juicy gifts, as difficult as it may be to resist, I urge you to stand firm. I want to see or here that this political summit generate the needed awareness meant for a positive leadership change. Amongst you, there will be betrayals, please do not be shaken. This is a vanguard for good leadership that have been formed. Through this means, leaders can be held accountable. This should be a forum to tell leaders the truth, but do not insult them.

Speaking at central political summit,Ex CRS Lands CommissionerProf John inyang says the political grassroot space should be considered in making key political decisions.

The immediate past Cross River State Commissioner For Lands Prof John inyang has charge central political class to reawaken their in ward gesture of self Reorientation.

A BRIEF SPEECH ON THE PLACE OF THE CENTRAL IN PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY.

  • Elder Prof. John Ofem Inyang. (Immediate past Commissioner for Lands).

Protocol:
I must admit that this gathering is a deliberate one aimed at fostering unity and protecting the collective interests of the good people of the central senatorial district in Cross River State. It is apt I must add. I have no doubt that this laudable idea was informed by either the absence of the benefits of democracy in the central or the need to ginger the people of the central to awaken the requisite variables that will eventually attract such democratic dividends.

I will therefore, commend the organizers of this event for such a deep reflection in the affairs of the central. The theme of this program for me does not require huge academic research for anyone to deal on. It does not require the consultation of the internet or AI apps to enable one speak on the topic especially if such a person is from the central. The simplicity of the theme enables us to reflect on the political activities of the central senatorial district and where we have failed to do the needful for our common good or collective interest.

We are a community of 6 local government areas with 66 political wards. Our level of political participation therefore, cannot be adequately assessed without looking at each ward and its peculiarities in terms of location and access to basic needs such as quality education, good health care, youth development, social infrastructure and general development. It is expected that democracy enables the availability of all these necessities being shared equitably by the drivers of governmental processes.

Engagement of ward members in decision-making under a democratic dispensation is inevitable especially from the process of involvement in deciding who the drivers of government are through elections. Choosing representatives in government is a primary function and fundamental political obligation we all owe ourselves. This must however, be made deliberately by creating the necessary awareness through interaction and education. The expected participants in decision-making in democratic system are not restricted to any class of persons but to all members of the political ward whether literate or illiterate. The simple orientation of educating our communities on how to vote or choose our representatives is the task given to all of us in this hall. Our core values in the central may be diverse but can deliberately be channeled towards attaining common goals.

Mr Chairman, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. Permit me to state categorically that We have a huge challenge before us. Our level of political awareness and participation in the central is very very low if we consider past processes. Apathy, lack of trust and confidence in our leaders at all levels are some of the key factors that have contributed to the low participation in democratic processes especially in choosing our leaders. It may be argued that there are other general problems across the country that may have caused the low participation thereby making it a generic task. I will quickly admit that but also state that the perceived weak socioeconomic and political institutions in Nigeria as a whole can rightly be strengthened by you and I at our various ward levels. This of course is a possibility if we remain conscious of our inherent moral values and demonstrate them in practical terms as foundations for all our decisions and actions within the ambience of democracy.

This will take us into democratic values as well which in the context of today’s event I will describe as Equity, Fairness and Justice. When we uphold these values as we participate in decision-making then the dividends of democracy will never elude us. When the gains are glaring, it will boost a higher level of participation and eliminate apathy.

Our youths, elites and key political players in the central should therefore, wake up and pull the bull by the horns to ensure that the necessary environment is created for the people at every ward to be given a new orientation to participate actively and massively in decision-making by choosing representatives that will drive the process of attracting benefits.

I emphasize on creating political awareness at the ward level because once the foundation or roots of a tree are alive, the trunk will naturally flourish.

Great ‘Centralites’ if you permit me to address you as such, whatever democratic or political orientation we introduce to tbetter our participation in democracy will fail if we do not deliberately strengthen our unity and share common positive values that will improve on our well being economically. We must include strategies that will either eliminate or reduce poverty radically, drastically and diametrically. Every home at the ward level must be given a sense of belonging in benefiting from the expected dividends of democracy. I mean every home. Where representatives discriminate in the sharing of democratic benefits, there is bound to be violence, apathy and lawlessness.

While everyone is needed during elections, let everyone be a beneficiary of the dividends democracy offers.

Our youths who are key players must be taken care of by providing job opportunities and empowering them for self reliance. The deliberate introduction of entrepreneurial schemes in a modern world cannot be overemphasized. Entrepreneurship is a path way of relieving government of the task of taking care of everyone. Entrepreneurship creates the demonstration of our potentials and talents or creativity. Let the youths be empowered by providing them with the required capital and capacity to develop themselves in entrepreneurial skills. Once our youths are busy violence will be eliminated from our wards.

Mr Chairman, today the youths of Cross River State are no longer leaders of tomorrow but leaders of today. Past and present governments have created avenues for the youths to participate in governance massively. Occupying key political positions and offices. Making decisions thereby maturing in leadership on a fast track. For those who may not have the opportunity to participate in governance at the same time, we must build in them the capacity to establish enterprises to cater for their well being.

On the required orientation, let every youth do what I call self orientation. You have the inherent moral values to orient yourself without waiting for another person to do that. Ask yourself some basic and self indicting questions such as must I be a political thug to survive or a political participant? Must I carry a gun or matchet for a politician whose children are overseas studying? Must I eat from the crumps of the so called masters? Do I have the right fingers for voting in elections as a process of deciding who represents me? Answers to all the questions can possibly be provided by you. Every rational being will answer these self indicting questions in the positive. Let’s stop sacrificing for politicians to our detriment. That era is gone. We must rather participate actively in political activities for our collective wellbeing in lieu of violence. The youths, do not wait for someone to orient you. Give yourself the necessary orientation and together we all will participate actively in democratic processes to our collective advantage.

Finally, we need regular gatherings such as this to review our political activities and make corrections where necessary. We must meet regularly to refresh our thoughts on building a formidable and resilient senatorial district.

We must meet regularly to constructively criticize our representatives and also the followers where things are on the wrong track. Our representatives should deliberately create avenues to brief their constituents periodically on their activities in government and consult the people on what they want or what they prefer. That is the essence of representationism.
With this we are bound to be in control. Our unity and strength must never be compromised. We must guard it jealously and benefit immensely from our collective political participation.

Thank you and God bless us.

“Society goes into extinction without young people getting positively involved”-hon Agbiji mbe to Central youths ahead of political summit.

“SOCIETY GOES INTO EXTINCTION WITHOUT YOUNG PEOPLE”-HON. AGBIJI MBE TO CENTRAL YOUTHS

By, Prince Atibile Williams.

A two term Member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Agbiji Mbe Agbiji on Wednesday in Calabar during courtesy visit to his abode by planning Committee of forthcoming Cross River State Central Political Summit re-emphasized pivotal role of youths to societal development as societies goes into extinction for lack of productive youths demography.

The seasoned lawmaker posited that young people have energy, new intelligence, new ideas and ambitions to prove a point.
He classified them as catalyst for socioeconomic and political development.
According to RT. Hon. Agbiji Mbe Agbiji, to harness these potentials, emerging leaders must have capacity to deliver, must be visionary, compassionate and of mental faculty to be analytical, pragmatic, realistic, objective, to engage in self criticism and accommodative of diverse opinions.

The Okuni born politician said hosting the Central Political Summit in a cataclysmic atmosphere such as this will provide participants ample opportunity to interrogate existing ideas bedeviling the Senatorial District with a view to orchestrate a reorientation packed with glad tidings.
However, he admonished youths of the District specifically to shun drugs, cultism and other social vices capable of undermining values of shared humanity.

Speaking earlier, the summit organizers emphasized potency of periodic cross fertilization of ideas aimed at recalibration of developmental wheels in Central Senatorial District and State by extension through instrumentality of projected annual event such as Cross River Central Political Summit.

Etung Cocoa estate even as protest tarry, see reasons.

Some youths of Etomi ward and by extension other wards like Abia and Efraya have continued to express dissatisfaction on the recent sharing of Cocoa estate thereby calling out the committee as unfair in the process as there called on appropriate quarters to see to their plea to avert futher disruptive measures.

The youths who have insisted to remain in protest until consideration is giving to their request are mostly from Etomi while some youths in Abia and Efraya have in some quarter allege a shared fate.

“About the Cocoa allocation to Etome the biggest contributor of land.
Firstly , this protest has nothing to do with the state Government. HE Prince Otu did well to appoint our son into the cocoa committee . Our problem is our sons that removed the authentic member of committee with the help of the Chairman Cosmas Nku, assumed duty illegally as member of committee and stole many Blocks of Cocoa meant for our community.
When you compare and contrast OSCAR allocation and COSMAS allocation, You will see the following different
(1).600 hectares given to Etome during Oscar and a little over 400 hectares during COSMAS.
(2)Where is the balance of about 180 hectares (22 blocks of cocoa farms for etome). Can it be produced.
(3). About 120 etome indigenes had 2 hectares, 30 had 4 hectares of cocoa each during Oscar. Compare this with what you have today under COSMAS.
(4.) Etome Cocoa leaders should provide a spread to the names of People let’s see if families ties did not show in allocated plots. Can there do this to remove their selves from blame. From those who benefit we have seen a trend towards family and blood relationship and marriage/in-laws. Some families no single person. Some families only one person and only one hectares given.

(5)
Our so call political leaders who championed this abnormally for their selfish interests know what they have done cannot be hidden, statistics will show. If they doubt they should arrange a town hall meeting to come and face Etome People and present their account.
Finally and fundamentally, those people calling the protest self seeking have forgotten that our Chiefs had proteste to Calabar where they met with the Special Adviser to the Governor , Barr Gilbert Agbor and the SSG Prof Owan Eno on the same issue.
They came back and waited for two weeks without any response.
How come the Etomi representative in the cocoa committee was not allowed to do his job. Who shared Etomi Cocoa?
Are those who shared the Cocoa members of the committee?
The Governor appointmented someone to represent Etomi in the Cocoa Committee. Strangely and callously, a different person assumed the position and shared the cocoa to himself ,family, inlaws, associates and merchants.
That is the reason Etomi Youths, Chiefs and women have no cocoa.
[ Etomi Community are triple landlord in the Cocoa Estates.
Owning about 85% of the total land that is developed in ICE . Also landlord of the Forest Reserve North where part of the land is developed with Cocoa, which is Abonita Cocoa Estate and Cross River Forest and Cocoa Project.
ETOMI LAND PLANTED WITH COCOA AS USED FOR THE CURRENT COCOA ALLOCATION: ICE 1412ha OUR 70% = 988.4ha. CRF&CP 929ha 70%=650.3. Abonita 307ha 70%=108. Therefore 650.3+108=758.3 divided by six landlord Communities that own the Reserve we have 143ha each. If you add form Reserve which is 143ha+988ha from ICE=1131ha that is what is expected for Etomi Community. NO LESS.
NOTE: Landlord’s of the Forest Reserve North are 1. Etomi 2. Agbokim W/Falls 3. Ekugatia 4. Ajassor 5. Effraya 6. Ekimaya. Landlords of Ikom Cocoa Estate ICE are only Etomi and Agbokim Waterfalls
With written agreements with Government.
Please for the records, who did the government appoint as member of the cocoa committee from Etomi ?
Who did the sharing and why ?
Please our loyalty is to HE Prince Bassey Otu. We are not protesting against his Government. We only want Government to look into the Cocoa Fraud and bring them to book.
For now, the protest will continue until our Chiefs, women and youths are treated fairly” the above was mkpe Ojong the support leader of the protest giving statistics of greviances.

Cross River central senator Elect hails workersday on workers .

Dear Workers, Let me seize this occasion to congratulate and celebrate all Nigerian workers for this year’s International Workers’ Day 2023 celebration.

I salute workers in our dear State for the cooperation extended to this Administration, generously, since its inception. I acknowledge their doggedness in the face of daunting exactions. I thank the union leadership for the understanding displayed during difficult moments.

As the country courses through challenging times, all of us are invited to rededicate ourselves to the service of our fatherland. It is ennobling to be counted among the few who are called upon to serve the people. It is patriotic to deploy one’s energy and talent for the progress of society. It is expected, therefore, that all those who serve diligently should also be rewarded diligently.

The State Assembly under my leadership is proud of our Labour-friendly Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Prof Ben Ayade, CON for his commitment to worker’s welfare in the state with the prompt payment of salaries since the inception of this administration to date.

A special mention must be made of His Excellency’s recent approval of the retirement of teachers from 35 to 40 years of service, as well as the lifting of the embargo on promotions for civil and public servants in the state from 2016 – 2023.

With these gestures and other commitments by His Excellency to Worker’s welfare, we say we are grateful.

This being the last May Day celebration in the tenure of this administration, I thank you all wholeheartedly for your dedication and committed both in the discharge of your responsibilities and in collaborating with this government in recording monumental achievements in the state.

I urge you to continue the peace we have enjoyed all round with the incoming administration of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor-elect, Cross River State.

Prince Otu’s Appointment: Etung current & house member elect sends strong massage.

As the build up for next government of cross River State begins to unfold, they seems to be some unclear disposition as lobbying for juisy position continues amongst big wigs in Etung LGA.

The current member(NTUFAM Barr Chris Njar Mbu Ogar) and the member elect (Evangelist Hon Kingsley Ntui Isong) have raised serious concerns and caution to those trying to drag their names in a sliding manner.

Pls read full text of caution from “I win,You win group..

RE- THE CHRONICLE OF HON. CHRIS NJAR-MBU OGAR AND HON. KINGSLEY NTUI ISONG (RANDY) UNMITIGATED BETRAYAL, SELFISH POLITICS, AND THE CALL FOR UNITY IN ETUNG

Our attention has been drawn to a very mediocritic, petty and poorly scripted hogwash write-up by a non-existent, amorphous and half-witted persona against the political leadership of Etung Local Govt Area, and specifically our Leaders, Ntufam Hon.Chris Njah Mbu-Ogar and Hon.Evg. Kingsley Ntui, both out-going and in-coming members of House of Assembly, Etung State Constituency respectively.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored this infantile and baseless poverty of thought as a desperate ranting by those groping for political appointments, but for purposes of clarification, just so as to set the records straight, especially for those that may be oblivious of the facts.

For the avoidance of doubt, we from the I WIN YOU WIN GROUP, having preferred to operate on the alter of HIGH MORAL GROUND may wish to state very unequivocally that:

  1. Ntufam Hon.Chris Njah Mbu-Ogar has never been a desperate politician and can never in private or public covet the office of the SSG or any other. Let it also be on record, that neither has the out-going nor the in-coming Governors made him any of such promises. Ntufam Chris Mbu-Ogar is simply a firm believer in the prevalence of the WILL OF ALMIGHTY GOD.
  2. Premised on alleged betrayal and trickery, the anonymous Effraya-writer had laboured albeit unsuccessfully to paint a picture of the current allegiance to distinguished Sen. John Owan Enoh as an incipient political strategy, insisting that Ntufam Chris is a prodigy of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade.

Ofcourse, Ntufam Mbu-Ogar stood for justice in 2019 and insisted that Senator John Enoh relinquished his aspiration for Governorship and seek re-election for the Senate to allow the Northern Cross River complete their eight (8) years term of office of Governor. Now we ask, where has Ntufam Chris Mbu-Ogar gone wrong in the circumstance?

  1. It is on record, that this fine gentleman, Ntufam Chris is amongst the very first Cross Riverians who through “Insight Cross River” with Beatrice Akpala, SA Communication and Advocasy, granted the foundational public interview on the BACK TO SOUTH MOVEMENT This interview brought Ntufam Chris Mbu-Ogar and Akpala under serious criticism and attack by many non-believers of a “live and lets live” society. Beyond the fact that this was done to occassion justice, equity and fairness, it goes therefore, to give efficacy to our modest and peaceful rotation of power amongst the three 3 Senatorial Districts in Cross River State. Ntufam Chris Mbu-Ogar and Hon. Kingsley Ntui did not betray their brothers, Senators John Enoh and Prof. Sandy Onor. They simply indicated that whereas, they are eminently qualified to run for office of Governor, they(Chris and Ryandy) would rather have John wait for the turn of Central Senatorial District in 2031.
  2. On the enthronment of Senator John Enoh as Leader of APC in Etung LGA which has generated some controversies. Let us resound with vehemence, that Ntufam Chris Mbu-Ogar has no regrets for that action. He began pursuing peace with Senator John Enoh and Prince Ebuta Ayuk shortly before the Governor Prof. Ayade moved the entire PDP structures to the APC. Upon moving to APC, his only disagreement with his Leader Senator John was on grounds of principles to the effect that Sen. Enoh waits patiently for the turn of Central. For the records, several meetings were held at different levels before the President-Elect intervened. Senator John Enoh had to lend credence to moral persuasions and appeals from the APC Leadership hierarchy.

Today, there is celebration of victory in the APC to which Senator John Enoh played a leading role, perfectly acknowledged by the incoming and outgoing Governors. Therefore, chosing to remind him of his naturally exclusive – original leadership of his robust grassroot support base in Etung, is not out of place. Note further that, John Enoh like Otu and Ayade, are by all standards, national leaders and leaders of our State and Party.

  1. What the purveyors of this cheap gossip failed to understand is that, only the “emperor of Kakum” through the will of Almighty God, could have given APC its current status in Cross River State wherein illicit actors are now hustling for relevance from behind the curtain. Besides, what classified documents would Prof. Ben Ayade opt for, from an office he has occupied for the past eight (8) years, and which is now a subject of contention contrived purely to advance mischief against a man of dignity and strength of character. God willing, Senator Otu is a fine politician and a strategic team player hence, has no time for vain talks and cheap beckoning. He has the exclusive right to assemble his team without undue pressure, but has never acted in isolation.
  2. Known for his avowed stance for fair-play and his convictions for zoning as a bastion of political integration and peaceful co-existence, Ntufam Mbu-Ogar in 2023 doggedly and courageously moved for, and campaigned vigorously for the Back-To-South Governorship, which some minions are today, trying so hard to blackmail.

For this highly liberal democrat and level-headed gentleman, politics not founded on equity, fairness and good conscience is a fraud, hence his outright decline of an offer to return to the state House of Assembly for a second term, which would invariably had paved the way for him to occupy the exalted office of speaker of the 10th Assembly. There are not many Cross Riverians who would decline this juicy offer of political power as No.3 in the State. Ntufam Hon. Chris Mbu-Ogar, Etung People shall gather some day to say thank you for chosing the path of honour and dignity to ensure peace harmony in Etung Local Government Area and Cross River State at large.

Alleging to the contrary against Ntufam Mbu-Ogar’s honest and sincere effort to bring peace to Etung is a palpable fear and jealousy of his towering demeanour and high political trajectory and moral rectitude. A move which some political commentators have called (political brigandage – robbing Peter (Chris) to pay Paul (brigands).

May we therefore hasten to state that, congratulations are in order for Distinguished Sen.John Owan Enoh for laying the foundation for the current crop of political leadership in Etung, a saddle on which he has always stood as the head.

Spewing hate in an apparent attempt to pitch the Enohs in a leadership contest is in itself, witchcraft.
Finally, we wish to advise those trying to create this division in the party to toe the part of honour and stop this unnecessary blackmail of the leadership, but rather galvanize a formidable energy to unite and rebuild the party under the leadership of distinguished Sen. John Owan Enoh.

Conclusively, be admonished to show courage and boldness in making logical criticisms if there are any issues as claimed, with a stable and verifiable identity. Not in acts of anonymity and cowardice as there is no such name as Ojong Patrick Amba from Effraya
